4th Annual Carolina Fitness Challenge

The 4th Annual Carolina Fitness Challenge returns to the Bull City on Saturday, January 12th!

Last year’s event was a huge success with 175 competitors, 500+attendees, and a large donation made to The Animal Protection Society of Durham.  This year will feature an even bigger crop of competitors, spectators, events, sponsors, and fun in the newly expanded gym at CrossFit Durham!  A portion of proceeds from this year’s event will again benefit the APS of Durham.

Concept
The Carolina Fitness Challenge is modeled on the CrossFit Games and seeks to determine the Fittest Man and Fittest Woman in North Carolina, as well as serve as a tune up for athletes hoping to compete in the 2013 CrossFit Games.

Date
The Challenge will take place on Saturday, January 12th.  Athlete check-in will begin at 7am.  The first events will begin soon after 8:30am and the day will likely end sometime in the late evening.  A more detailed schedule will of the day’s events will be posted soon.

Location
CrossFit Durham, 410 West Geer Street, Durham, North Carolina.  Located in the Trotter Building and adjacent to Old North Durham Park.

Competitor Eligibility and Fees
The Challenge is open to active members of CrossFit Affiliates in the State of North Carolina and active duty members of the military currently stationed in North Carolina.  There will be up to 175 total competitor spots this year for men, women, and masters (40+). 

EARLY BIRD registration is $80 through Tuesday, September 25th and $100 thereafter.  Competitor registration fee includes event t-shirt, lunch and drinks.  Registration will remain open until all spots are filled. 

THERE WILL BE NO CANCELLATIONS OR REFUNDS AND REGISTRATION IS NOT TRANSFERABLE.  Please make sure you can attend if you register.  All competitor spots have been sold!

Scaling
There is no scaling during this year’s event.  All competitors must be able to participate in the workouts as prescribed. 

Prizes
Sponsor prize packages will be awarded to the Top 3 athletes in all divisions. 

Spectators
Remaining tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for kids under 16 and include BBQ lunch and drinks.  Kids under 12 are still free.  Tickets at the door on the day of the event will be $30 for adults and $25 for kids under 16.  Kids under 12 will still be free. After December 21st, any   Kids under 12 are still free. 

Food and Drinks
Coffee with fruit and nuts will be available in the morning.  A BBQ lunch and drinks throughout the day will be provided for all competitors and spectators.

Weather and Equipment
There will be at least one event held outside in Old North Durham Park adjacent to the gym.  Athletes and spectators should be prepared and dress accordingly.  Athletes should bring any equipment (wrist wraps, tape, hand grips, weight belt, jump rope) they feel they may need for the competition.

Judges
We need judges for the event!  Judges must be CrossFit Level I Certified at a minimum.  All judges will receive free lunch and free event t-shirt.  If you are interested in being an event judge please email info@crossfitdurham.com.
